The combination of content of the program, the stimulation to learn more about your leadership abilities and the opportunity to actively engage with faculty and staff from similar programs around the country will create the environment to learn from others experiences, develop new ways of thinking and create approaches that are innovative and exciting. Participation in Cohort 2 events include:

November 13-16, 2014
Two and half days. Outcomes for individual leadership plan and steps in building program expansion plan. Hosted at Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Kentucky.

March 6, 2015
Review progress about implementation for expansion plans, continue to network with coaches and Cohort 2 members.

June 13-14, 2015
Two days in Seattle, Washington conducted preceding the ASEE Annual Conference.

The Leadership Capacity Building project is based on up-to-date research on teaching and learning, and the problems experienced by US community college manufacturing technology programs, as well as studies by Society for Manufacturing Engineers (SME). The project takes into consideration the rapid knowledge change in the manufacturing sector within the framework of the Four Pillars of Manufacturing Knowledge: Materials and Processes; Product, Tooling and Assembly; System and Operators; and Competitiveness. Participating in this project has the potential for your program to have a significant impact on the preparation of the next generation workforce in advanced manufacturing.

The 2014-2015 grant 2nd Cohort is forming to include up to 30 instructional leaders representing at least 10 two and four-year manufacturing technology and manufacturing related programs. The grant will partially support the cost of attending the workshops by providing hotel accommodations and a stipend.
