| Overview
As the culminating activity of the module, the Transfer Activity
provides an example of a typical situation you may encounter in
your career.
In this Transfer Activity, you review information about the Robotic
Grippers, Inc. (RGI) model 2000 robotic gripper and determine the
most important characteristic(s) to control on that part. Then you
decide the expected process and determine the process dominance
and form of variability that is expected. You then plan the appropriate
process control chart and determine whether or not the process is
in statistical control and capable of meeting customer requirements.
You apply the following competencies developed in the ALTs:
- Apply the concepts of "forms of variability" and "process
dominance" to the selection of an appropriate control technique
(Comp. 1).
- Acquire, analyze, and interpret data from a process to determine
if the process is in statistical control and capable of meeting
customer requirements (Comp. 2).
- Apply problem-solving techniques to the development of an improvement
plan for processes that are not in statistical control and/or
not capable of meeting customer requirements (Comp. 3).
Materials and Equipment
No materials or equipment are needed to complete the Transfer Activity.
Safety and Disposal
You must be thoroughly familiar with the safety regulations of the
machine shop and any equipment that is used.
Pre-Activity
To prepare for the activity:
- Read Information Sheet: An Overview of RGI and Instruction Sheet:
Process Control at RGI in your Process Control Participant
Journal.
- Learn more about Robotic
Grippers, Inc.
- Review the Learning Objects from ALT
#1, ALT #2,
and ALT #3.
Activity
In your team, perform the following step to complete the activity:
- Complete Instruction Sheet: Process Control at RGI.
Post-Activity
Your team should now post its results from
the activity to the Discussion Board.
Assessment
Your facilitator may use Rubric for Evaluating the Transfer Activity
to evaluate your results from the activity and your posting to the
Discussion Board.
