Since 1995, the NCME has developed
powerful tools for curriculum development using activity-based
learning as a foundation for manufacturing education.
Among the products available to enhance
your classes are:
• Novel
Curriculum : the basis for the curriculum
template and the key to understanding the effectiveness
of the modules and learning activities.
• Curriculum
Modules: a complete two-year program in
Manufacturing Engineering Technology. Using the NCME's
unique curriculum architecture, the modules are divided
into nine subject-area clusters covering technical skills,
soft skills, math, and science. The modules provide
learning activities—Authentic Learning Tasks (ALTs)—to
develop competencies essential to a manufacturing technician.
In addition, each module ends with a Transfer Activity—an
activity that has the students apply the competencies
acquired through the ALTs to a new scenario. Each module
is available in an instructor’s version (Facilitator
Guide) and a student’s version (Participant Journal).
• Learning
Activities: Authentic Learning Tasks (ALTs)
and Transfer Activities from the NCME's curriculum modules.
Activities develop competencies in a wide assortment
of subjects in manufacturing related technical skills,
soft skills, math, and science. View them here through
our digital library or search
for them in MERC.
• Self-Guided
ALT Development Kits: a step-by-step instruction
manual and template for creating your own competency-based
Authentic Learning Tasks (ALTs). Update your current
classroom materials, or develop new ones using the unique
NCME curriculum design.
• Build
Your Own Materials: the capability to create
your own instructional material using any of the NCME's
novel learning activities and including any other materials
that you have created.
