Computer Tools for Workplace Communication
All employees need to have some familiarity
with common computer tools such as email, the
Internet, and basic software applications. And,
more importantly, they need to understand how
to use these computer tools to communicate more
effectively. Computer Tools for Workplace
Communication covers the general use of basic
software programs such as Microsoft® Windows®
and Microsoft® Office®. In addition, participants
are introduced to the Internet and email as tools
for communication.

of reports as determined by the writer's purpose
and audience needs, creating reports responsive
to these constraints, employing appropriate methods
of research, and validating and documenting their

Professional Development focuses on important
job skills other than technical skills. Participants
learn the significance of professional organizations,
time-management techniques, and goal-setting.
The individual portfolio, developed in the Transfer
Activity, provides participants with a useful
tool as they begin their job search.

Teamwork
In order to gain the knowledge and skills necessary
to be an effective team member, participants explore
and analyze the principles of good teamwork. Participants
utilize teamwork principles to encourage effective
teamwork and explain and implement an effective
problem-solving process within a team.
